Obverse Design:
 
The obverse features the third crowned head of Queen Elizabeth II, facing right. This design was created by artist Raphael Maklouf.
The initials "RDM" (for Raphael David Maklouf) are located on the truncation (the bottom edge of the bust).
The inscription surrounding the bust reads "ELIZABETH II DEI · GRA · REG · F · D.," which translates to "Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith."
 
Reverse Design:
 
The reverse depicts the classic image of St. George on horseback, rearing right, as he defeats the dragon. This design is one of the most iconic representations in British coins and was originally crafted by Benedetto Pistrucci.
The date "1988" and the initials "B.P." are located in the exergue below the image.
 
Physical Characteristics:
 
The coin has a milled edge, which is consistent with many modern coins to ensure authenticity and maintain a uniform appearance.
