The obverse of the gold proof coin was designed by Philip Nathan, renowned for his Britannia coin design. It features intertwined portraits of The Queen and Prince Philip, symbolising their unity, with parallels to the portraits of King William and Queen Mary, or Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
The reverse of the gold coin was designed by legendary silversmith Leslie Durbin, although it was modelled by Philip Nathan. The crown of St. Edward is featured at the top, with shields displaying the Royal Arms and Prince Philip's coat of arms below.
